Following the success of Animating Literature (a series of performance poetry workshops which took place in South East Asia from 2005), Speechless was an international performance poetry project that toured eight venues in the UK, supported by a programme of community and university workshops, produced in collaboration between Apples & Snakes and the British Council Literature Department.

Funded in part by Arts Council England, the tour featured work from: Priya K (Malaysia), Siege Malvar (Philippines), Pooja Nansi (Singapore), Liu Liang Yen (Taiwan), Da Thao Phuong (Vietnam) and UK artists Francesca Beard, Malika Booker, and Aoife Mannix around the theme of freedom of expression.
